Oct. 29, 2018 - For the second time this season, North Central College kicker Derik Judka has been selected as the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Special Teams Football Player of the Week, giving the Cardinals their fifth such award this season.

Judka was recognized for his contributions to North Central's 55-0 Homecoming victory over Elmhurst College on Saturday. He converted a perfect 7 of 7 extra-point attempts and connected on field goals of 33 and 25 yards for a season-best 13 total points. Judka also kicked off 10 times for a 61.4-yard average, including three touchbacks which bring his season total to a school-record 16.

Currently sharing the national lead in field-goal percentage (a perfect 11 of 11) and ranking fourth among all NCAA Division III kickers in field goals per game (1.38), Judka leads the CCIW in scoring as well. He is two field goals shy of matching the North Central single-season record of 13, which has been accomplished six times by four different kickers.

Judka was also named the Special Teams Player of the Week following a Sept. 15 victory over Washington University in St. Louis. Linebacker DJ Warkenthien was last week's CCIW Defensive Player of the Week, while quarterback Broc Rutter has received a pair of Offensive Player of the Week accolades this season.

Currently ranked 10th nationally by D3football.com and 12th by the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA), North Central (7-1, 6-1 CCIW) travels to face Illinois Wesleyan University (7-1, 7-0) on Saturday in a battle for first place in the CCIW standings. Kickoff at Tucci Stadium is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
