Box Score

WAUKESHA, Wis. (Oct. 6, 2018) –
Despite a first-set victory, the North Central College women's volleyball team was unable to hang on in a College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) match at Carroll University on Saturday, falling 3-1 inside Van Male Fieldhouse.

North Central (2-14, 0-3 CCIW) scored a comeback win in the first set, facing a 18-15 deficit but caught fire at the right time, closing the set scoring 10 of the final 13 points.  Kills from Anna Billman and Kaitlyn Boelter-Eberhardt as well as a pair of Pioneer errors gave the Cardinals a 19-18 lead, while two service aces off the hand of Claire Vrabec and two more kills from Boelter-Eberhardt highlighted the run.

Boelter-Eberhardt and Kimberly Epker teamed up for a block to close out the first set 25-21 in favor of North Central, as the Cardinal offense racked up 14 kills in the set while Carroll hit just .056.

The Pioneer offense found its groove beginning in the second set however, hitting .478 while the Cardinals went cold to the tune of a -.080 attack percentage in a forgettable 25-11 defeat.

The Cardinal defense continued to struggle in shutting down the Pioneer offense, as Carroll hit .342 and .379, respectively, over the final two sets to score the comeback victory, combining for 31 kills over those two sets.

Boelter-Eberhardt led all players with 17 kills and Sarah Geosling added nine, combining for 26 of the Cardinals 37 total kills.  Maya Bryant led the team with 18 assists, while Kiarah Horn finished with 14.

Cassidy Mrotek paced the Pioneer offense with 12 kills, while Sam Penzkowski also finished in double figures with 10, whil Emma Przeslicke dished out 20 assists.  Defensively, Amanda Hahn finished with a match-high 20 digs, while Mrotek added 11.

North Central returns home for the first of three-straight home matches on Wednesday, Oct. 10, hosting 13th-ranked Illinois Wesleyan University at 7 p.m. inside Gregory Arena.  Links to live in-game coverage are available HERE.
