Nov. 12, 2018 – Just one game into her collegiate career, North Central College women's basketball's Alanna Newsome was named College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Player of the Week, announced by the conference on Monday.

Newsome finished with a game-high 17 points off the bench in North Central's 62-54 season opening victory over Knox College on Saturday.  Newsome also added four assists, three steals and three rebounds in her 23 minutes.

The weekly award is the first for North Central since the 2015-16 season and the first by a Cardinal freshman since 2003.

North Central returns to the court on Tuesday, Nov. 20, making the short trip to Benedictine University with tip-off set for 5 p.m. inside the Rice Center.  Links to live in-game coverage are available HERE.
