WAUKESHA, Wis. (Nov. 2, 2018) - Earning nine first-place finishes on the day, the North Central College men's swimming & diving team delivered a decisive 330-212 victory over the Carroll College Pioneers Friday night.
The Cardinals found an early momentum boost from
Ryan Lewellyan,
Nick Mielke,
Austin Blaser and
Ferdinand Hoerstel, who won the 200-yard medley relay with a time of 1:45.42. Hoerstel kept the ball rolling when he notched a victory in the 1000-yard freestyle (12:13.30). Sam Stamatis (2:10.29) and
Thomas Wagner (2:30.58) claimed the top two spots in the 200-yard freestyle. Meanwhile, Mielke claimed first in the 200-yard individual medley (2:08.41) with
Luke Gentile (2:24.09) not far behind in third.
North Central carried their success through the shorter sprints, where the first place finishes continued:
Austin Blaser in the 50-yard freestyle (23.50), Ryan Lewllyan in the 100-yard butterfly, and
Ferdinand Hoerstel in the 100-yard freestyle (53.22), and
Nick Mielke in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:03.34). Blaser also earned first in the 500-yard freestyle (5:57.21).
North Central returns to Wisconsin on Nov. 10 to compete alongside Ripon College at a tri-meet hosted by Beloit College.
