Snapping a six-game losing streak, the North Central College women's basketball team clawed back from a first-half deficit to take down North Park University, 71-61 on Senior Night inside Gregory Arena.

North Park (8-12, 3-8 CCIW) led throughout most of the first half, taking its largest lead 32-24 with 4:16 to play in the second quarter, but North Central rattled off nine straight points to quickly take a 33-32 lead.  The run was highlighted by a three-pointer from Frankie Pettit, while Lyndsay Brennan knocked down a jumper followed by another layup from Pettit, before Haydn Braun gave the Cardinals the lead with a layup just before halftime.

The Cardinals (5-16, 3-9 CCIW) carried that momentum into the third quarter, as Brennan opened the second half scoring with a lay-in, before Maya Walls connected from deep to open up a 40-35 advantage.

North Central never trailed in the second half, opening up its largest lead with 6:24 to play in the contest, as back-to-back layups from Brennan and a long ball off the hand of Michaela Reedy increased the Cardinal lead 63-49.

Three Cardinals finished in double figures, led by 15 points from Walls, while Mayson Whipple finished with 11 and Brennan added 10.  Whipple and Brennan each finished with six assists and eight rebounds, while Reedy grabbed a team-high nine boards.  Walls also finished with eight rebounds, while Brennan led all players with seven steals.

Lauryn Alba Garner led the Viking offense with 18 points, while Shaylee Sloan finished with a double-double, scoring 11 points while grabbing a game-high 14 rebounds.  Clarissa Ramos also finished in double figures with 13 points.

North Central hits the road for three straight games on Wednesday, Feb. 7, traveling to Millikin University with tip-off at 7 p.m. inside the Griswold Center.  Links to live in-game coverage are available HERE.
