SEWANEE, Tenn. (March 23, 2018) – The North Central College men's lacrosse team's rally from behind came up short on Friday as the Cardinals fell 11-8 to Sewanee: The University of the South (5-4) in the final game of the Cardinals' spring break trip.

The Tigers took an early 3-0 lead in the first four minutes of the game before Nick Pardo scored the Cardinals' first goal of the game off of an assist from Tanner James. Sewanee's Hayden Hunt added another goal with under 30-seconds in the first period to go ahead 4-1.

Pardo opened up the scoring for North Central off of an assist from Weaver in the second period at 13:56. The Tigers responded a minute later with a goal of their own, but the Cardinals went on a three-goal run to knot the game 5-5. Sewanee added two more goals before halftime, but North Central was knocking on the door, trailing 7-5.

Both teams scored one goal a piece in the third period and a goal from Parrill with 9:53 remaining in the game brought North Central within one, 8-7. But the Tigers came back with a three-goal run to go up 11-7. A goal from James with 3:15 was not going to be enough to come back as the Cardinals suffered their fourth-straight loss.

Pardo paced the offense with three goals while Weaver and James each had two. Danny Boyle, Parrill, and James all added one assist.

The score could have been much higher, but Dylan Cost's stellar performance in goal and 19 saves established a new single-game record. Chris Ivie and Steven Faux also helped the defensive efforts with three caused turnovers each and John Fitzgerald led the Cardinals with six ground balls.

North Central (3-5) travels to Mequon, Wis. on Wednesday, March 28 to play Concordia University-Wisconsin. Game time is set for 4 p.m. and a link to live in-game coverage can be found HERE.
