March 31, 2018 – The blustery conditions did not hinder the North Central College men's lacrosse team's efforts to bounce back from a five-game losing streak on Saturday afternoon as the Cardinals defeated Adrian College (0-7) in dominate fashion, 23-1, at Benedetti-Wehrli Stadium.
Tanner James scored the first of six goals for the Cardinals in the first period, followed by goals from
Danny Boyle,
Jared Weaver,
Tommy Huizinga,
Nick Pardo and another tally from James. North Central kept the Bulldogs scoreless until Brayden Adrian scored on a man-up possession to eliminate the risk of a shut-out at 6:53 in the second period, but the Bulldogs trailed 11-1 going into halftime.
Pardo added his second goal of the game to start the third period, but Adrian responded with a goal from Morgan Caldwell. North Central would take a 16-2 lead going into the fourth period and limit the Bulldogs to only one more goal, but James, Huizinga,
Matt Sheinfeld, and
Justin Babor put the exclamation point on the win with four more goals before the final horn.
Boyle and Pardo each contributed six points while Boyle and James shared the lead with four goals apiece. Pardo's three assists led the Cardinals in that category and
Jacob Ray scooped up a team-high eight ground balls.
Noah Swisshelm and
John Fitzgerald both led the team with three caused turnovers.
North Central (4-6) will use the win as momentum as the Cardinals begin College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) play at Illinois Wesleyan on Wednesday, April 4. Game time is set for 7:30 p.m. and a link to live in-game coverage can be found
