Mar. 5, 2018Â - On the strength of a wide range of contributions to two straight wins to open the new season, North Central College women's lacrosse player
Christina Truver has been named the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Defensive Player of the Week for Feb. 26-Mar. 4. The CCIW announced its most recent Player of the Week selections on Monday.
Truver was recognized for her efforts in the Cardinals' first two games of the 2018 campaign, a 17-6 victory over Aurora University on Wednesday and a 12-10 triumph at DePauw University (Indiana) on Saturday. Truver caused a team-high seven turnovers while sharing the team lead in ground balls (12) and draw controls (12). Truver also recorded five goals and two assists, and her eight ground balls against DePauw were part of a team total of 53 which established a new North Central single-game record.
Truver was a Second Team All-CCIW selection a season ago for North Central, which returns to action Wednesday hosting Benedictine University. Action at Benedetti-Wehrli Stadium is scheduled to begin at 7:00 p.m.
