Naomi Yamane has been recognized as one of the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Women's Track and Field Athletes of the Week for Apr. 9-15. The CCIW announced the fourth installment of Athlete of the Week selections for the outdoor season on Tuesday.
Yamane was named the CCIW's Field Athlete of the Week due to her performance in the hammer throw at the Benedictine University Relays on Friday. Her personal-best distance of 167 feet, 11 inches placed her first in the competition, and she currently ranks second in the CCIW and 11th nationally among NCAA Division III athletes in the event. Yamane ranks third all-time at North Central in the hammer throw while also ranking second in the shot put (43'8.50") and fourth in the discus throw (133'11").

Taiah Gallisath received the honor on Apr. 3 after tying for first place in the high jump at the Augustana College Viking Olympics.
North Central travels to Wheaton College for the Don Church Twilight Meet on Saturday. Field-event competition at McCully Stadium is scheduled to begin at 2:00 p.m., with running events to start at 3:30.
