Apr. 18, 2018 -Â The North Central College women's lacrosse team remained unbeaten in College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) play on Wednesday, scoring the first 16 goals and overwhelming Elmhurst College, 23-4, at Benedetti-Wehrli Stadium.
The Cardinals (13-1, 3-0 CCIW) matched their single-season school record for victories while breaking their record for draw controls (223) and posting their fourth-highest single-game scoring total.
North Central scored four times in the first five minutes and raced to a 14-0 advantage by halftime, keeping the Bluejays (5-8, 0-4) out of the net until early in the second half. The Cardinals kept the pressure on down the stretch, scoring nine times in the second half on just 11 shots.Â
Mynk Richardson-Clerk,
Jessica Deetjen and
Madeline McHugh scored four goals each to pace the hosts' attack, while Richardson-Clerk and Deetjen both contributed three assists as well, and Deetjen also finished with six ground balls.
Christina Truver scooped up eight draw controls and
Camille Seghesio improved to 9-1 in goal, saving five shots.
The Cardinals play their final home game of the regular season on Saturday, hosting the University of Dubuque (6-4, 1-2) at 4:00 p.m.
