Apr. 21, 2018 - Playing aggressively and dictating terms from wire to wire, the North Central College women's lacrosse team surged to a historic victory Saturday at Benedetti-Wehrli Stadium, taking down the University of Dubuque, 22-7.

The Cardinals (14-1, 4-0 College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin) established a new single-season school record for victories while also setting new single-game records for shot attempts (56) and draw controls (24). North Central eclipsed the 20-goal plateau for the fifth time in the past seven games.

After surrendering the first goal of the afternoon, North Central scored four times in a two-minute stretch to take control of the contest. A run of eight unanswered goals in a 10-minute stretch midway through the contest put the Spartans (6-5, 1-3 CCIW) out of contention.

Jessica Deetjen set an individual single-game school record with 15 shot attempts and led all scorers with six goals, while Christina Truver scored five times and tied her own single-game record with 13 draw controls. Addie Records put up four goals and two assists and shared the team lead in ground balls (5) with Grace Steiner. Camille Seghesio won her 10th game of the season in goal, saving seven shots.

The Cardinals clinched a spot in the CCIW Tournament with the victory, and will travel to Illinois Wesleyan University (11-4, 4-0) on Wednesday in a battle for sole possession of first place in the conference standings. Play at Tucci Stadium is set to begin at 7:00 p.m.
