Apr. 23, 2018 - North Central College women's lacrosse student-athlete Jessica Deejten has been named the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Offensive Player of the Week for Apr. 16-22, giving the Cardinals their conference-leading sixth Player of the Week award this season. The CCIW announced its most recent set of honorees on Monday.
Deetjen became the fourth North Central player to earn one of the conference's weekly awards after helping lead the Cardinals to a 23-4 victory over Elmhurst College and a 22-7 win over the University of Dubuque on Saturday at Benedetti-Wehrli Stadium. She totaled 10 goals in the two games while also contributing four assists, nine ground balls and four draw controls as North Central remained unbeaten in CCIW play. Deetjen set a new single-game school record with 15 shot attempts against Dubuque.
Deetjen ranks second on the Cardinals' roster in scoring with 45 goals this season while putting up a team-best 55 ground balls and 61 draw controls.
North Central's
Addie Records (Apr. 16) and
Christina Truver (Mar. 12) have also received Offensive Player of the Week awards this season, while Truver (Mar. 5 and Mar. 26) and
Mynk Richardson-Clerk (Apr. 2) have also won Defensive Player of the Week accolades.
The Cardinals (14-1, 4-0 CCIW) travel to face Illinois Wesleyan University on Wednesday in a battle for sole possession of first place in the CCIW standings. Competition at Tucci Stadium is scheduled to begin at 7:00 p.m. Click
