May 8, 2018 – For the second-consecutive week, North Central College outfielder
Mike Wisz was named College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Hitter of the Week, released by the conference on Tuesday.
Wisz hit .462 last week with three homeruns, 11 RBI, eight runs scored and two doubles to lead the Cardinals to their fourth-straight regular season CCIW title and the 14
th overall in program history. He broke the CCIW single-season RBI record with 47 RBI in conference play this season.
Wisz finished as the CCIW batting champion, hitting .430 in conference, while his .405 overall average ranks second on the team. He currently leads the team with 62 hits, 64 RBI and 104 total bases, ranking fifth on the program's single-season RBI list.
This marks the sixth CCIW Player of the Week award for the Cardinals this season, as
Rob Marinec and
Michael Mateja also earned Hitter of the Week honors, while
Russell Hoh and
Charlie Klemm were each named Pitcher of the Week.
North Central (25-12, 20-4 CCIW) host the CCIW Tournament for the third time in the last four seasons, beginning on Thursday, May 10 as the top-seeded Cardinals host fourth-seeded North Park University at Zimmerman Stadium with first pitch at 12 p.m. Additional information and the full tournament schedule is available at the tournament website
