NAPERVILLE, Ill. (Sept. 12, 2018) - The North Central College men's soccer team looked to rebound from two straight losses against a previously unbeaten Dominican University team on Wednesday, taking the game from the Stars 1-0.

The action started fast for both teams, with eight shots being taken by the Cardinals in the first half, while three of those were on target. The Stars got their fair share of shots as well though, getting five off in the opening half.

North Central started the second on a strong note while controlling the ball for most of the start of the half.

Three minutes into the period, sophomore Austin Lombardi received a pass from Steven Abalos in the left corner from the Stars' net, and lifted a beautiful 30-yard cross to his teammate Gavin Sanchez. The senior connected, sending the ball past Dominican's goalie, who has only given up one goals in the Stars' three previous games. For Sanchez, it was his first goal of the 2018 campaign, after scoring five last season.

The Stars found some energy after giving up the goal, controlling the ball and attacking the Cardinal defense relentlessly. North Central did not break though, as the Stars were not able to get many real scoring opportunities for the remainder of the game.

The Cardinals (2-2) are at home for their next game against Nebraska Wesleyan on Saturday, Sept. 15, with game time set for 5:30 pm. The live stats for that game can be found HERE.
