BOX SCORE
(Sept. 22, 2018) - Kicking off conference play against Millikin University, the North Central women's soccer team struggled offensively and fell 2-0 to the Big Blue.
Lucy Koger gave the visitors the start they needed. In the 6th minute she broke through the Cardinals' defense and sent a shot past goalkeeper
Madison Lockard. Although North Central trailed at the end of the first half, it was not for a lack of trying. The Cardinals out shot Millikin 12 to four and forced Big Blue goalkeeper Jennifer Miller to make eight saves.
In the second half, North Central struggled to generate similar quality opportunities against an unwavering Millikin defense. Although the hosts recorded six shots in the second half, none landed on goal. Millikin sealed the deal in the 73rd minute after Amber Bell snuck a pass behind the Cardinals' defense, setting up Maddy Wood with a breakaway that she easily converted.
Sara Sheridan and
Lexi Dimovski both recorded four shots, while
Allyson Viederis tallied three.Â
