ROCK ISLAND, Ill. (Sept. 26, 2018) - Facing the best defensive team in the conference, the North Central women's soccer team fell 3-0 to the Augustana College Vikings Wednesday night.

The Cardinals started the game on an offensive tear, generating several scoring chances within the first 15 minutes of play. North Central out shot the hosts 9-5 in the first half and landed four shots on net. But Viking goalkeeper Sydney Ion was there to stop them all. Ion owns the lowest goals against average in the CCIW (.49). Karrisa Gottardo put Augustana on the board in the 31st minute when she scored off a corner kick. 

The game remained 1-0 until the 54th minute, when Augustana capitalized on a penalty kick to double their lead. The Vikings added another goal in the 61st minute to seal the deal. Gretchen Frantz made seven saves in net. Lexi Dimovski and Sara Sheridan each took four shots, both landing a pair on goal.

North Central (4-6, 0-2 CCIW) continues their conference campaign on Wednesday, Oct. 3 when they host Illinois Wesleyan University (7-1-1). Game time is set for 7 p.m.
