Sept. 26, 2018 – Squaring off against an unbeaten Wheaton College squad, the North Central College women's tennis team fell victim to a 7-2 defeat at the NCC Tennis Courts on Wednesday, snapping a four-match win streak.
Wheaton (6-0, 4-0 CCIW) jumped out to a 2-0 lead in doubles play with 8-3 and 8-2 wins at No. 2 and No. 3, respectively. North Central (6-2, 4-2 CCIW) cut the lead in half with a victory at the No. 1 position, as
Hannah Hougland and
Alaina Kanthaphixay led the entire match over Claire Browning and Claire Dibble, eventually closing out a 8-4 victory.
In singles play, the Thunder showed its depth with wins at positions two through six, while
Diana Barcelata claimed the lone win with a 6-4, 2-6, 6-4 battle over Emma Westwick at the No. 1 spot.
North Central is null until Sunday, Oct. 7, traveling to Kenosha, Wisconsin to take on conference rival Carthage College at 12 p.m. at the Smeds Tennis Center.
