A week after poor weather forced their meet to get canceled, the men's swimming & diving team battled the elements again Friday night, this time costing the team the first four events of the Millikin Triangular. Nevertheless, the Cardinals rallied to turn in some strong efforts despite falling in the team scores to the hosts and Illinois Wesleyan University.
Earning the Cardinals' top finish on the day was
Sam Lee, whose season-best time of 1:00.18 in the 100-yard backstroke secured second place. Meanwhile,
Austin Blaser and
Ferdinand Hoerstel both turned in personal best efforts on the way to third-place finishes, Blaser in the 200-yard freestyle (2:00.04) and Hoerstel in the 200-yard individual medley (2:14.16). The two paired with
Nick Mielke and
Sarantis Stamatis to add another third-place finish in the 200-yard freestyle relay, finishing in 1:34.65.
Mielke recorded a pair of fourth-place finishes in the 50-yard freestyle (23.14) and 500-yard freestyle (5:46.23), while Stamatis finished fourth in the 100-yard butterfly (1:05.22) as did Blaser in the 100-yard freestyle (52.80)
