CHICAGO, Ill. (Jan. 26, 2019) –
Rolling to their third-straight victory on Saturday on both ends of the floor, the North Central College women's basketball team led by as many as 23 in a 67-53 rout of North Park University, kicking off a three-game road trip on a high note.

With the score knotted at 20 with 7:37 remaining in the second quarter, North Central (6-14, 4-7 CCIW) caught fire on the offensive end, closing the first half on a 21-10 run as seven different players scored during the run to take a 41-30 lead into halftime.

After a three-pointer off the hand of Alanna Newsome to start the third quarter increased the lead to 12, the offense suddenly went cold over the next six and a half minutes, allowing the Vikings to pull to within four points of the lead 44-40.

A Page Desenberg three-pointer snapped the Viking run while once again igniting the Cardinal offense, as Lyndsay Brennan followed with a jumper on the next possession.  With just under a minute remaining in the quarter, Natali Dimitrova layed one in from down low before a pair of free throws from Newsome increased the lead back to 13 heading to the fourth.

The fourth quarter was all North Central as North Park scored just one point over a span of over six minutes while the Cardinals capitalized to extend the lead 67-44 with 2:34 to play in the contest.

16 points from Newsome led the Cardinal offense, while Tyonne Howard added 11 points and four assists.  Brennan finished with nine points and a game-high five assists and seven rebounds, while Haydn Braun chipped in eight points off the bench.

Jayla Johnson played all 40 minutes for North Park, leading the team with 16 points, while Angelina Villasin also finished in double figures with 10 and Jose Summerville grabbed a game-high 14 rebounds.

Looking for their fourth-straight College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) win in a row, North Central travels to Decatur, Illinois on Wednesday, Jan. 30 with tip off inside the Griswold Center scheduled for 7 p.m. Links to live in-game coverage are available HERE.
