Box Score

DECATUR, Ill. (Jan. 31, 2019) –
Playing without their two leading scorers, the North Central College women's basketball team's attempt at its fourth straight win came up short on Thursday, falling to Millikin University, 81-67 inside the Griswold Center.

In a contest in which they never led, North Central (6-15, 4-8 CCIW) fell behind 10-0 to begin the game but responded with seven straight points to regain composure.

Pulling to within one point of the lead on multiple occasions in the second quarter, a Page Desenberg three-pointer trimmed the Big Blue margin to 38-37 with 2:59 to play before halftime.

With Millikin (7-13, 3-7 CCIW) holding a 42-39 lead at halftime, Haydn Braun tied the game with a triple to open the third-quarter scoring, however a quick 7-0 run by the Big Blue denied the attempt at overtaking the lead.

The North Central offense never recovered from that point forward, mustering just 28 second half points while Millikin led by double digits nearly the entire fourth quarter.

Lyndsay Brennan tied a career-high with 17 points for North Central, while Desenberg also finished with a career-best 17 points.  Hannah Vitkus added eight points and a team-leading seven rebounds, while Natali Dimitrova also finished with eight points.

20 points from each of Jordan Hildebrand and Aubrey Staton accounted for almost half of the Millikin offense, while Hildebrand also led all players with nine rebounds.  Yannie Saddler and Briana Anthony also finished in double figures, scoring 14 and 13 points, respectively.

North Central finished the current three-game roadtrip next Wednesday, Feb. 6, traveling to Kenosha, Wisconsin to take on Carthage College at 7 p.m.  Links to live in-game coverage are available HERE.
