Jan. 5, 2019 –
Haunted by a slow first half, the North Central College women's basketball team suffered a 75-59 defeat at the hands of Elmhurst College on Saturday in a College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) matchup inside Gregory Arena.

North Central (3-12, 1-5 CCIW) was outscored 22-7 in the second quarter, struggling from the field to shoot just over 28 percent in the opening half, including 0-for-5 from three-point range while going 4-for-12 from the free throw stripe.

Elmhurst (6-8, 2-3 CCIW) meanwhile shot 57 percent from beyond the arc on 4-for-7 shooting to open up a 39-20 lead at halftime.

Trailing by 16 to begin the fourth quarter, a 12-3 run over the first five minutes propelled North Central back into the contest, as back-to-back layups from Natali Dimitrova capped the run to narrow the score 58-51 with 4:54 to play.

Seven points proved to be as close as the Cardinals would come to the lead in the end, as the Bluejays opened back up a double-digit lead with just under two minutes to play.

20 points from Alanna Newsome led the Cardinal offense, while Dimitrova added 15 points and Lyndsay Brennan matched a career-high with a game-high 11 rebounds.

11 Bluejays contributed at least two points on the evening, led by 15 from Kellee Clay and 13 from Lisa Logan.

North Central wraps up the current three-game homestand on Wednesday, Jan. 9, hosting Carthage College at 7 p.m. Links to live in-game coverage are available HERE.
