NAPERVILLE, Ill. (Oct. 12, 2019) -  Looking to bounce back after a conference loss to Millikin, the North Central College men's soccer team came out of the gates firing as they defeat Carroll University to win their third College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) game.

Just four minutes into the game, Andreas Raaen found Spencer Wiese for the early goal to give the Cardinals a 1-0 lead. One minute and three seconds later, Andy Kristiansson netted his first goal of the season to increase North Central's lead to 2-0. The Cardinals recorded six total shots in the first-half as they went into the break with a 2-0 lead.

Coming out for the second half, North Central kept up the offensive tempo as they tallied five more shots in the second-half. Carroll made a run in the 56th minute as Ryan Coughlin was fouled in the box and converted his fourth penalty kick of the season to bring the Pioneers within one.

In the 68th minute, Raaen posted his second assist of the game as he found Elmer Eng who secured the victory for North Central by finding the back of the net. The Cardinal defense stayed strong as Carroll put three shots on goal in the second-half but were unable to put one past goalkeeper, Marco Soto.

Soto made five total saves as he improves to 8-4-1 on the year while Pioneer goalkeeper Tyler Hanson drops to 0-3 despite his two saves.

North Central will travel to Kenosha, Wis. to take on Carthage College on Wednesday. The game is set to begin at 7:30pm at Art Keller Field.
