NAPERVILLE, Ill. (Oct. 12, 2019) - The North Central College women's soccer team continued their strong string of recent play against Carroll University on Saturday, with a golden goal by freshman Kily Egan in the second overtime pulling the Cardinals to their seventh victory on the season.

The Cardinals looked to have the advantage through the first half of play, holding the advantage in shots over Carroll (5-5-2, 0-3-1 CCIW) by a 7-2 margin. Not many shot were legitimate chances though, with both teams only recording two shots on goal through the first 45 minutes. The second half proved the be more of an even match though, with the Cardinals only leading in the shot department by two during the half. Although by the end of regulation, the score stayed deadlocked.

Each team had their chances in the first overtime to end the contest, but neither could muster a goal. With fatigue starting to set in on a cold and breezy night in the second half, it appeared as though the contest would end in a tie. Then, the Cardinals found themselves in a perfect opportunity to end it on a shot by Aly Crum, but the shot hit the crossbar. The chance did not end there though, with Kily Egan gaining possession of the ball in the rop right corner of the box, booting the ball past the Carroll goalkeeper to end the contest. It was Egan's fifth goal of the season, which leads the team, and brings her point total to 13 on the year, also leading the team.

Madison Lockard added another shutout to her season total, bringing it up to four. That ties her for third on the list of most shutouts in a season in program history, and two behind the record of six set by Elise Manziein in 2008.

With the win, the Cardinals tie their win total from last season at seven with five games remaining on their schedule.
