NAPERVILLE, Ill. (Oct. 16, 2019) - With the wind chill dropping into the mid-40s for a majority of the game, the North Central College women's soccer team felt the effects of the weather, dropping their match against Carthage College by a 1-0 final on Wednesday.

Both teams seemed sluggish out of the gates, with neither team able to muster many opportunities through the first half of play. The Cardinals were narrowly out-shot by a 5-1 margin through the first 45 minutes as Carthage controlled the ball and tried to find opportunities. The Lady Reds only had two of those five shots on target though, with Madison Lockard saving both of them for the Cardinals.

The second half saw both teams start to get accustomed to the cold weather, and with that came more action than the first half. While the Cardinals were still out-shot through the period, Carthage was not accurate with their chances, only managing one shot on goal through the period. That shot was the decisive blow though for the Lady Reds, scoring in the 60th minute to take the 1-0 lead that turned out to be enough to put the game away. The Cardinals desperately tried to even the score in the waning minutes of the contest but ultimately were unable to do so, with the final turning out to be 1-0 in favor of the Lady Reds.

The Cardinals (7-6-1, 3-2 CCIW) are back home on Saturday, Oct. 19, taking on no. 9 Wheaton College at 7:30 pm for Senior Night. Click HERE for live stats and HERE for live video.
