Oct. 19, 2019 –
Stumbling on day two of the Tiffany Robinson Memorial Tournament, the North Central College women's volleyball team suffered a 3-1 defeat in the opener to Trine University, before a 3-0 loss to Saint Mary's College (Indiana) in the nightcap.

North Central stormed out to an early 1-0 lead in the opener after a back-and-forth first set, as a Trine attack error, followed by a kill from Kaitlyn Boelter-Eberhardt and a service ace off the hand of Katelynn Kuehl broke open a 20-20 tie to give the Cardinals a three-point advantage and force a Thunder timeout.

That timeout proved ineffective in stopping the Cardinal offense, as Boelter-Eberhardt finished out the set with a kill and a solo block to take the opener 25-20.  Boelter-Eberhardt recorded eight of the Cardinals 14 kills in the opening set, hitting a match-high .212 as a team.

The opening set win proved to be the high point of the opening match however, as the Cardinal offense committed 22 attack errors over the final three sets, while the Thunder rebounded to record double-digit kills in each of the final three to steal away the match win.

Boelter-Eberhardt led all players with 22 kills but no other Cardinal tallied more than five.  Kiarah Horn dished out 39 assists, while Kuehl led the team with five aces and Lexi Barry recorded 17 digs on defense.

12 kills from each of Sarah Toles and Madison Munger paced the Thunder offense, while Jacqueline Baughman handed out 34 assists.  Trine (14-10) held a 12-10 advantage in service aces, powered by five from Lindsey DeCamp.

The final match of the tournament was one to forget about for North Central, as the Cardinals had trouble containing the Belles' offense all evening long.

Saint Mary's (9-12) committed just seven attack errors all match to North Central's 17, as the Belles opened with a 25-15 first set win backed by 15 kills to only one error, hitting .538 on the set.

Set two was tightly contested until late when Saint Mary's broke open a 20-20 tie, closing the match on a 5-1 run to take a 2-0 advantage in the match. North Central hit a match-low .108 in the second set, finishing with 10 kills to six errors.

The third set was all Saint Mary's, as the Belles jumped out to a 5-1 lead and never looked back, again committing only one attack error en route to the 25-12 third-set final.

Sarah Geosling was the lone Cardinal to finish with double digit kills, tallying 10 in the nightcap, while Horn led the team with 27 assists.

Megan Collantes finished with a match-high 16 kills for the Belles, while Nicole Lukens added 10 and Morgan VanderWey dished out a match-high 30 assists.

North Central (5-22) closes out the home portion of the season schedule on Friday, Oct. 25, celebrating Senior Night prior to a College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) matchup with Elmhurst College slated for 7 p.m.  Links to live in-match coverage are available HERE.
