Oct. 25, 2019 – Celebrating Senior Night prior to the home finale of the 2019 season against College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) foe Elmhurst College, the North Central College women's volleyball team fell behind early in all three sets and never recovered en route to a 3-0 defeat inside Gregory Arena.
North Central (5-23, 0-7 CCIW) surrendered the first four points of the opening set and was unable to overcome the early deficit, falling 25-14 as the offense committed eight attack errors to hit .000 on the set.
The second set was close early on as North Central trailed by just one, 8-7, but once again the offense was only able to muster seven points the rest of the set to fall by an identical 25-14 margin.
With the third set all knotted 10-10, the Bluejay offense caught fire to close out the match on a 15-5 run, powered by 16 kills in the set to only four errors.
The Cardinals finished the match with 28 kills to 17 errors, hitting .111, while Elmhurst recorded 44 kills to only nine errors to hit .340 as a team.
Kaitlyn Boelter-Eberhardt and
Sarah Geosling each tallied six kills for North Central, while
Kimberly Epker and
Kaylee Allensworth each added five.
Kiarah Horn led the team with 21 assists, while defensively
Lexi Barry finished with 15 digs and Allensworth added 11.
10 kills from each of Taylor Zurliene and Payton Froats paced the Bluejay (9-19, 4-3 CCIW) offense, while Emily Finkbeiner led all players with 39 assists.
