CHICAGO, Ill. (Oct. 26, 2019) - In a game that saw pouring rain for all 90 minutes of action, the North Central College men's soccer team dropped a College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) match to North Park University, 2-1.

Despite the rain, the Vikings (12-4-1, 5-1 CCIW) got off to a hot start as they scored the game's first goal in the 12th minute of play. Ulrik Lund found Shatil Khoury who netted his first goal of the season as North Park took the 1-0 lead. The rest of the first-half saw plenty of action, including 24 total shots (18 for the Vikings and six for the Cardinals), but no more scoring as the Vikings took their lead into the half.

As play resumed, North Park took advantage of an early opportunity just :57 seconds into the half as Cardinals' goalkeeper Marco Soto was able to save the first Gianfranco DeCarne shot but DeCarne put the rebound into the back of the net.

North Central (10-5-1, 5-2 CCIW) wouldn't go down without a fight as senior Alexis Flores was called upon to take a penalty kick in the 62nd minute and he delivered his eighth goal of the season to bring North Central within one. The Cardinals made a late push but couldn't get a shot past Mathais Stulen as North Park comes out on top, 2-1.

The Cardinals took 12 total shots, three of which were on target throughout the game. Flores led the charge with six total shots. North Park ended the match with 23 shots, six of them being on goal.

Soto moves to 10-5-1 on the season as he posted four saves while Stulen recorded two saves and improves his record to 7-2 for the year.

North Central will play in their final CCIW game of the regular season as they host Augustana College (5-6-2, 2-3-1 CCIW) on Wednesday at 7:30 pm.
