NAPERVILLE, Ill. (Oct. 30, 2019) - In their final College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) match of the regular season, the North Central College men's soccer team downed the Augustana Vikings 6-1 on a cold and rainy Wednesday night. 

The Cardinals took advantage of an early scoring opportunity as Lukas Munchausen found the back of the net following a deflection off of the Viking goalkeeper in the fifth minute of action to give North Central the early lead. After four more Cardinals' shots, senior Alexis Flores would deliver the second goal of the game as North Central would go up 2-0. Elmer Eng would also get in on the action as he scored in the 24th minute of play off of an assist from Flores.

Just three minutes later, Spencer Wiese would finish off an Austin Lombardi cross to score North Central's fourth goal. To close out the first-half, Jack Bullard would give the Cardinals a 5-0 lead going into the break.

In the second-half, the Cardinals would strike again as Flores converted his fourth penalty kick of the season to give North Central a 6-0 lead. Augustana later scored their only goal of the game on a Chris Plantz goal in the 71st minute of action. In total, North Central took 17 shots, eight of which were on goal. They also recorded two corner kicks.

Marco Soto was stellar in goal once again for North Central as he tallied five saves and improved his record to 11-5-1. Jeremy Klaber of Augustana posted two saves as he falls to 3-5-1 on the year.

North Central will close out their regular season on Saturday as they host the University of Wisconsin-Platteville for senior day. The game will begin at 4:00 pm at Benedetti-Wehrli Stadium.
