CHICAGO, Ill. (Oct. 26, 2019) - Firing on all cylinders despite the cold, rainy weather, the North Central College women's soccer team won their fifth conference contest this season due to a high-powered offensive attack and stingy defense against North Park University on Saturday, topping the Vikings by a 5-0 tally.

The Cardinals pulled ahead early, with Aly Crum finding pay dirt first in the 10th minute of the contest on an assist from Sam Schutte and Sara Sheridan. It marked Crum's third goal in two games and her seventh on the season, leading the team in that category. It did not take the Cardinals long to strike again, when only a minute later Kaitlyn Cannon scored on an assist from Crum to put the Cardinals up 2-0.

While the Cardinals did not score another in the first half, the damage had been done as they controlled the ball and thwarted any chances from the Vikings (3-13-0, 0-6 CCIW) and carried the 2-0 lead into halftime.

Another flurry of North Central goals came between the 64 and 74 minute mark, as they netted three to put the game well out of reach. Schutte scored two goals of her own, while Lindsay Novak also added one to make the score 5-0. The Cardinals dominated ball control, tripling the number of Vikings shots and adding six corners to North Park's zero.

On defense, the Cardinals were as good as ever, with Madison Lockard having to save four shots on the evening, recording the shutout in the process. Her fifth shutout on the season now ties her for second in program history. Those four saves also moves her up to seventh on saves in a single season in program history.

The fifth conference victory for the Cardinals marks the most they have ever had in a single-season. They look ahead to a final non-conference match-up against University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh on Oct. 30 before the start of the CCIW Conference Tournament on Nov. 6.
