USTFCCCA Division III Regional Awards

Nov. 19, 2019 – For the 11th time in the past 12 seasons, North Central College men's cross country head coach Al Carius has been named the Division III Midwest Region Coach of the Year by the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).

Carius, in his 54th season at the reins of one of the most winningest programs across all NCAA Divisions, led his team to its 31st regional title in program history on Saturday. The Cardinals totaled 47 points after taking six of the top 15 spots. 

This marks the second award for Carius this season, after he and his assistants were honored as the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Coaching Staff of the Year following the 2019 CCIW Championships where the Cardinals won their 46th-straight title by sweeping the top eight places.

No. 2-ranked North Central heads to Louisville, Kentucky for the NCAA Division III Championship on Nov. 23, where the Cardinals will battle for their fourth-straight national title and 20th in program history. The men's race is set to start at 10:45 a.m. (ET).
