KENOSHA, Wis. (Nov. 23, 2019) - Earning 10 total top-three finishes, the North Central College men's and women's swimming & diving teams competed in the Carthage College Triangular along with Carroll University on Saturday.
The men took down Carroll 162-45 to secure the Cardinals lone win of the afternoon. Carthage beat the Cardinals 161-52 while both Carthage (208-23) and Carroll (194-34) defeated North Central on the women's side of things.
Marissa Hoppe led the women's team as she posted a second-place finish in the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:39.61. Hoppe also took third-place in the 100-yard breaststroke as she finished the race in 1:13.84. To conclude her day, Hoppe finished with a time of 1:07.40 for the 100-yard individual medley as she earned a fourth-place finish.
Amy Feltz took sixth-place in both the 200-yard breaststroke (2:58.61) and the 50-yard freestyle (27.17).
Savannah Catalano recorded an eighth-place finish in the 100-yard free with a time of 1:07.65.
Paving the way for the men's team was
Nick Snow,
Ben Laurich,
Nick Mielke and
Cameron Teel who took home first-place in the 200-yard freestyle relay with a time of 1:36.37. Mielke also earned a second-place finish in the 100-yard individual medley as he posted a time of 59.13. His time of 2:34.88 in the 200-yard fly was good enough for a fourth-place finish as well.
Austin Blaser recorded a time of 1:01.14 in the 100-yard fly which gave him second-place in the event. Blaser also took home a third-place finish in the 50-yard free as he finished with a time of 23.25. Teel also earned a second-place finish for the Cardinals as he posted a time of 5:51.29 in the 500-yard freestyle race.
The Cardinals travel to Jacksonville, Ill. as they participate in the Illinois College Quad on Dec. 14th. The meet is set to begin at 1:00 p.m.
