CCIW Press Release

Feb. 26, 2019 –
In the first installment of the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) baseball Player of the Week awards, North Central College starting pitcher Charlie Klemm was awarded the honor this week, released by the conference on Tuesday.

Klemm started the season opener tossing five scoreless innings with seven strikeouts, scattering just three hits while walking only one batter. Klemm held opposing hitters to a .188 average, while Blake Kons and Ryan Behling finished the final four innings to complete the shutout for the Cardinals.

This marks the second time Klemm has earned the weekly award from the conference as he was also named Pitcher of the Week on Apr. 24, 2018.

North Central has been represented with a Player of the Week award every year since the installment in 2003, while Klemm's award is the 54th overall for the program.

After a 3-0 start to the season, North Central is scheduled to host Rockford University on Saturday, Mar. 2 at 12 p.m., weather permitting.  The full 2019 season schedule is available HERE.
