AURORA, Ill. (Mar. 1, 2019) – Continuing their torrid beginning to the spring season, the North Central College men's tennis team extended the current win streak to eight with a 7-2 defeat of Concordia University Wisconsin on Friday in a non-conference dual inside Vaughan Tennis Center.
North Central (8-1) took the all-important lead after doubles play, winning two of the three positions as
Justin Howes and
Tyler Haizel teamed up to take down Nolan Rademacher and Peter Kloda, clawing out a 8-6 victory at No. 2. At the No. 3 position,
Tyler Bussell and
Lucas Pindak rolled to a 8-1 win over Tim Peters and Nathan Raskin.
In singles play,
Victor Krueger tallied the first win for North Central at the No. 1 position, cruising to a 6-1 first-set win over Rademacher before sealing the victory with a 6-4 second set. At No. 5,
Andy Hinch defeated Gabe Binversie in straight 6-4 sets, while Pindak clinched the match win with a 6-3, 6-2 straight-set win over Peters at No. 6.
Continuing to dominate singles play, Haizel scored a 7-6, 6-0 victory over Kloda at No. 4, before Bussell took down Docter, 6-4, 6-3 at No. 2. Concordia Wisconsin (3-3) avoided the singles sweep with a three-set win at No. 3 to close out the match.
Hosting their final match before heading south to Florida for their annual spring trip, the Cardinals will take on NCAA Division I foe Eastern Illinois University on Saturday, Mar. 2 at 3 p.m. at Vaughan Tennis Center.
