Tigers Halt Cardinals Winning Streak

SEWANEE, Tenn. (Mar. 15, 2019) - Beginning their season on a three-game winning streak, the North Central College women's lacrosse team saw that streak come to an end on Friday, dropping their first game of the season by an 18-8 score against Sewanee: University of the South.

Sewanee (8-3) controlled the game from the start, scoring four of the first five goals and going on the offensive the whole first half, with the period ending with a Tigers lead of 12-4.

The Cardinals came out of the second with some energy, scoring the first two goals of the half before going back-and-forth with the Tigers to make the score 14-8 with 17:17 left in regulation. From there out it was all Sewanee, scoring four unanswered goals before the final buzzer to make the game an 18-8 final. 

The Tigers out-shot the Cardinals by a 36-19 while also winning the turnover battle by a 29-35 margin. 

The Cardinals were led by Jessica Deetjen and Mynk Richardson-Clerk, adding three and two goals respectively. Christina Truver was the leader in ground balls for the Cardinals with five, while Pagie Nadherny added four.

Camille Seghesio recorded the loss in net for the Cardinals, saving 11 shots that came her way.

The Cardinals (3-1) are in Sewanee, Tenn. again on Sunday, March 17, playing Berry College with Sewanee: University of the South hosting the contest. Click HERE for live stats and video.
