BIRMINGHAM, ALA. (Mar. 19, 2019) - Concluding their three game road trip against Birmingham-Southern College on Tuesday, the North Central College women's lacrosse team were lead to a 19-13 victory by juniors
Christina Truver and
Jessica Deetjen, each delivering career performances in different statistical categories.
As per usual this season, the Cardinals jumped out to a quick lead, putting five shots in the back of the goal in the first 10 minutes of the game. A somewhat back-and-forth game through the rest of the half left the halftime score at 11-7 in favor of the Cardinals.
The second half started off differently though, with the Panthers coming back to make it a two game with 20 minutes remaining in regulation. The Cardinals were not going to be out-done though, going on a 6-2 run to conclude the game.
Deetjen scored eight goals in the contest, setting a new career high in the category, while only taking 12 shots. The eight goals is tied for third-most in a single game in program history while 12 shots is tied for second in a single game. Truver also set a new career high in ground balls, taking in 12, which now sits tied for second for a single game in program history. Truver also led the team in draw controls for the team with seven throughout the contest.
Reilly Pfeiffer and Truver also added three goals, while
Annabelle Steiner caused five turnovers on the defensive side.
Camille Seghesio got the start for the Cardinals and picked up her fifth win of the season, while saving six shots and giving up 11 goals.
Abigail Widd came on in relief and saved two shots while giving up two goals.
The Cardinals (5-1) return home after their 3-1 road trip on Saturday, March 23 against Johnson & Wales University (Colo.) with game time set for 12 pm. Click
