Box Score
March 2, 2019 – In a game that saw more penalties than goals scored and lasted more than two and a half hours, the North Central College men's lacrosse team held on despite a third-period push from the Milwaukee School of Engineering (0-2) for a 10-8 win on Saturday morning.
Steven Faux put North Central on the board first, scoring seven minutes into the game on an extra man opportunity, but the Raiders soon tied it up ten seconds later after Harrison Davies connected with Erik Nelson. The Cardinals outscored the Raiders 7-1 in the first period and went into halftime with a 9-3 lead, thanks to three goals from
Jared Weaver and tallies from
Jacob Ray,
Tommy Huizinga,
Noah Parrill and
Tanner James.
MSOE came back in the third period, keeping the Cardinals from scoring while adding four goals of their own, cutting North Central's lead to 9-6. The Raiders continued to strike in the fourth period, with Nelson adding another goal before Weaver added his fourth of the day to pull ahead 10-7. A last minute effort by Jack Fisher for MSOE came too little, too late and North Central remains undefeated at home with a 10-8 win.
Huizinga and
Matt Sheinfeld each added two assists and Weaver had a team-high five points. Five of the Cardinals' goals came from man-up opportunities. Defensively,
Jacob Ray and
Steven Dale each had five ground balls and
John Fitzgerald tallied five caused turnovers. In goal,
Dylan Cost made four saves.
The Cardinals (2-0) travel to Michigan to play Alma College on Saturday, March 9 with game time set for 1 p.m. A link to live in-game coverage can be found
