AURORA, Ill. (Mar. 29, 2019) –
Forced to play from behind after doubles play, the North Central College men's tennis team completed a 6-3 comeback win over Illinois Wesleyan University on Friday in the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) opener contested inside Vaughan Tennis Center.

After Tyler Bussell and Lucas Pindak scored a quick 8-0 win over Michael Behrensmeyer and Cole Hundman at No. 3 doubles, the Titans turned the tables to score an 8-4 win at No. 1 followed by a 8-5 victory at No. 2 to take a 2-1 lead into singles play.

Needing to win four of the six singles positions to earn the victory, Andy Hinch and Marco Davila regained the lead for North Central, each scoring 6-0, 6-0 wins at No. 5 and No. 6, respectively.

Now holding a 3-2 lead in the match, Tyler Haizel rolled to a 6-0, 6-2 victory over Tim Hughes at the No. 3 position, before Justin Howes clinched the match by defeating Justin Piotrowski, 6-2, 6-3 at No. 3.

Just for good measure, Bussell handed Ryan Yoo a 6-1, 6-4 defeat at the No. 2 position, before the Titans avoided the singles sweep with a three-set win at No. 1.

With over a week off before their next match, the Cardinals travel to Augustana College for the first of four-straight road matches, scheduled for 12 p.m. at the Lower Campus Courts.
