Women's Lacrosse Rolls to Sixth Straight Win

DUBUQUE, Iowa (Mar. 30, 2019) - Playing their first College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) game of the season against University of Dubuque on Saturday, the North Central College women's lacrosse team rolled to their sixth straight victory by a 20-2 score.

The Spartans (0-6, 0-1 CCIW) proved no match for the Cardinals, with the Cardinals jumping out to a 7-1 lead in the first 10 minutes of the contest. The onslaught continued through the first half, with the Cardinals increasing their lead to 15-2 by the end of the period.

The second half was no different for North Central, adding on five goals to their total and giving up none to make the finals 20-2. The Cardinals tallied 44 shots, with 34 of those on goal compared to Dubuque's nine shots and seven on goal. North Central also won the turnover battle, 22-32, directly causing 30 of those.

Offensively, they were led by Grace Steiner scoring six goals and adding an assist as well. She also was able to cause three turnovers and picking up four ground balls. Jessica Deetjen also added five goals to push her season total to 42 goals. Madeline McHugh also contributed substantially on the offensive end, assisting on four goals and adding one of her own.

Nelle Scranton added two goals while also assisting on two for four total points in the box score. Christina Truver was a force once again as well, adding three goals while also nabbing six draw controls and picking up five ground balls. In goal for the Cardinals was Camille Seghesio, who received the win to make her season record 8-1. She saved three of the shots that were sent her way while only giving up two goals.
