ELMHURST, ILL. (Apr. 17, 2019) - The North Central College women's lacrosse team saw five program records fall on Wednesday against Elmhurst College, with the Cardinals soaring to a 26-1 victory.

The Cardinals could do no wrong against the Blue Jays (1-10, 0-5 CCIW), jumping out to a 7-0 lead to start the game before Elmhurst scored their only goal of the game with 17:53 left in the first half. The Cardinals added eight more goals and at the end of the first, they owned a commanding 15-1 lead.

The second half was no different for North Central, scoring another 11 goals to make the final 26-1 in their favor. Nelle Scranton, Christina Truver, Jessica Deetjen, Grace Steiner, and Annabelle Steiner all scored three goals for the Cardinals, while Madeline McHugh, Berit Vandenbroucke, and Rebecca Claussen added two. Abigail Widd recorded her first win of her career at North Central while playing the whole first half.

The 26 goals scored by the Cardinals ties their previous record for goals scored in a single game, matching the total they had against Augustana College last season. The Cardinals also bested their program record for assists in a game with 16, which was previously 15 against Northwestern (Minn.) in 2016. Additionally, the Cardinals set a new record for points in a game, with their total adding up to 42, which beats the former record of 39 also set in the game against Northwestern (Minn.).

Truver also set two records in the victory, surpassing the record for career draw controls, now up to 271. She also tied her own record for most draw controls in a game with 13, which she has done twice in her career.

The Cardinals (12-2, 4-1 CCIW) take a break from conference action by taking on Calvin College on Saturday at home. Click HERE for live stats.
