AURORA, Ill. (Apr. 19, 2019) –
Winners of four-straight College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) matches, the North Central College men's tennis team improved to 5-1 in conference play with a 6-3 defeat of Millikin University on Friday inside Vaughan Tennis Center.

Scoring wins in two of the three doubles matches, Victor Krueger and Andy Hinch clawed out a 8-6 win over Jacob Palley and Colin Sandgren at the No. 1 position to open the scoring.  Justin Howes and Lucas Pindak followed with a 8-4 victory over Holden Owens and Nick Laramee at No 3, before the Big Blue cut the lead 2-1 with a win at the No. 2 spot.

Moving to singles play, Tyler Bussell increased the Cardinal lead 3-1 with a easy 6-0, 6-1 win over Sandgren at No. 2, before Millikin again trimmed the lead to just one with a win at No. 3.  With the two teams trading wins, Hinch took that point right back with a 5-7, 6-0, 6-0 come from behind victory at No. 4.

Holding a 4-2 lead in the match, Pindak secured the team victory for North Central at the No. 6 position, defeating Laremee, 7-5, 6-4.  Just for good measure, Krueger scored a 7-6, 6-3 win at the No. 1 position over Palley to finish out the scoring.

Currently sitting in third in the CCIW standings, North Central closes out conference play on Tuesday, Apr. 23, taking on unbeaten Wheaton College at 3 p.m. at Nike Park.
