Apr. 23, 2019 –
Wrapping up the regular season on Senior Day on Tuesday afternoon, the North Central College men's tennis team came out on the wrong end of a 6-3 decision at the hands of College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) foe Wheaton College at Nike Park.

The Thunder (9-8, 5-0 CCIW) claimed the day's first match at No. 2 doubles, but the Cardinal duo of Victor Krueger and Andy Hinch continued to stay hot at the No. 1 position, pushing their win streak to five-straight matches with a 8-4 victory over Josh Cheng and Andrew Bristol.

Wheaton took the all-important 2-1 lead after doubles play with a 8-4 win at the No. 3 position and carried that momentum into singles play, scoring victories at No. 1, 6 and 5 to quickly clinch the match victory.

North Central did claim two of the final three positions however, as Tyler Haizel took down Jacob Panjwani, 6-4, 6-3 at No. 3, while Hinch rebounded from a 6-2 opening set loss against Alexander Winters at No. 4 to score a 6-1, 6-3 comeback win.

The Cardinals finish the season with an overall record of 17-5, while going 5-2 in CCIW play, finishing third in the conference standings.  Now off until Thursday, May. 2, North Central will travel to Decatur, Illinois for the CCIW Championships, hosted by Millikin University.
