BLOOMINGTON, Ill. (May 2, 2019) –
Entering the 2019 College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Championship as the number three seed, the North Central College men's tennis team rolled to a 5-0 decision over sixth-seeded Elmhurst College on Thursday morning inside Evergreen Racquet Club.

Forced to move indoors due to inclement weather, the Cardinals (18-5) took the all-important 3-0 lead with a clean sweep of doubles play, as Tyler Bussell and Tyler Haizel started the scoring with a 8-3 defeat of Grant O'Connell and Lance Maharry at the No. 3 position.

Victor Krueger and Andy Hinch finished shortly after with a 8-4 victory over David Demoll and Shawn Sabaricos at No. 1, before Justin Howes and Lucas Pindak fought off Chris Wallace and Tavious Imperial, 8-5 at the No. 3 position.

With the two teams playing to decision, North Central capped off the win in no time as Hinch cruised to a 6-0, 6-0 shutout over Maharry at No. 4, while Krueger was no match for Demoll at No. 1, clinching the team victory with a decisive 6-3, 6-1 win.

North Central advances to day two of the championship, taking on the winner of No. 2 seed Wheaton College and No. 7 seed Illinois Wesleyan University, Friday, May 3 at 2 p.m. at Fairview Park Tennis Complex in Decatur, Illinois.  The championship website is available HERE.
