CCIW Press Release
Apr. 30, 2019 – For the second time this season and the third time in his short career, North Central College's
Charlie Klemm has been named College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Pitcher of the Week, released by the conference on Tuesday.
Klemm improved to a CCIW-leading 6-0 after earning the win over Augustana College on Apr. 26 as the Cardinals swept the doubleheader with a 4-1 win in game two. After allowing a run on two hits in the first inning, Klemm, Patrick Shaefer and
Justin Rios combined to no-hit the Vikings over the final eight innings without allowing a base runner past the fourth. Klemm struck out a career-high 11 batters over his six innings of work while surrendering just one walk.
Klemm also earned the weekly award on Feb. 26 this season, while his first career honor came on Apr. 24, 2018.
This marks the fourth CCIW Player of the Week for North Central this season, as
Colin Weilbacher and
Rob Marinec were each named Hitter of the Week early this season.
Inclement weather keeps pushing back the doubleheader with Millikin University, as the two teams will attempt to finish the season series on Thursday, May 2 with game one of the twin bill scheduled for 1 p.m. at Zimmerman Stadium. Links to live in-game coverage are available
