2019 CCIW All-Conference Women's Lacrosse Teams
Apr. 30, 2019 - Four student-athletes from the North Central College women's lacrosse have been selected to the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Women's Lacrosse All-Conference Teams, with
Christina Truver also taking the honors of defensive player of the year, announced by the conference on Tuesday.
Christina Truver and
Jessica Deetjen were named First Team All-Conference while
Camille Seghesio and
Mary Pinkowski were named to the second team. The Cardinals finished third in the CCIW as a team this season, recording a 14-3 (5-2 CCIW) record. The 14 wins is the second most in the program's history, behind the 16 games they won in 2018.
Karina Schulze from University of Chicago was named as the Offensive Player of the Year and the Newcomer of the Year, while Lindsey Keller from Illinois Wesleyan University and Kate Robinson from University of Chicago were named as the Co-Coach of the Year. The Cardinals
Truver received the Defensive Player of the Year and was named on the first team All-Conference after a junior season that saw her lead the nation in ground balls per game with 6.41 through Apr. 30. She is also ranked second in both draw controls per game (6.59) and caused turnovers per game (3.12) within the CCIW. Truver's 2019 season is scattered throughout the program single-season history books as well, ranking second in total ground balls (109), total draw controls (112), and total caused turnovers (53). Earlier this season, she also set a new career record for the program in draw controls, now up to 292 through Apr. 30. This is Truver's third time being named All-Conference, with selections to the second team in 2017 and the first team in 2018.
Deetjen performed most of the offensive duties for the Cardinals, scoring a new program record 67 goals in the regular season, surpassing the 61 set by Gina Fisher in 2014. She also added 10 assists to bring her point total to 77 points on the season. Her 67 goals led the CCIW while her total points per game was ranked fourth (4.53) in the conference. This is Deetjen's first time being named to an All-Conference Team.
Seghesio had a 12-3 record in goal for the Cardinals during her senior season, saving 7.33 shots per game, which ranked fourth in the conference. She also recorded a .458 save percentage on the season, ranking second in the CCIW among qualified goalies. Seghesio was also named to the Second Team All-Conference in 2018.
Pinkowski received the honors after a freshman season that saw her rank second on the team in both ground balls (61) and caused turnovers (37). Her 37 caused turnovers are now seventh in a single-season in program history.
The Cardinals head into the CCIW Tournament as the three-seed, taking on University of Chicago May 1 at 7 pm. Click
