CCIW Press Release
Apr. 9, 2019 - North Central College women's track and field student-athlete
Kelsey McLaurin has been recognized as the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Field Athlete of the Week for Apr. 1-7, earning the distinction for the first time in her collegiate career. The CCIW announced this week's award winners Tuesday.
McLaurin received the accolades for her contributions to the Cardinals' efforts at the Wheaton College Invitational on Saturday, where North Central finished second in a 13-team field. She won the triple jump with a distance of 11.68 meters (38 feet, four inches), which broke the North Central varsity record of 11.65 meters (38'2.75") she set in 2018. McLaurin also ran on the Cardinals' first-place 4-by-400-meter relay team (three minutes, 56.74 seconds) and the second-place 4-by-100-meter relay quartet (48.89).
McLaurin currently ranks first in the conference and sixth among all NCAA Division III competitors in the triple jump, while the 4-by-400 relay team ranks first in the CCIW and seventh nationwide.
The Cardinals compete in the Benedictine University Relays Friday and Saturday.
