KENOSHA, Wis. (May 4, 2019) - A united team effort pushed the North Central College women's track and field team to victory at the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Outdoor Championships on Saturday, as the Cardinals scored significant points in nearly every event and collected their 10th outdoor championship trophy at Carthage College's Art Keller Field.
North Central won two individual championships and finished with a team total of 175 points, putting the Cardinals well ahead of runner-up Wheaton College (144), while Illinois Wesleyan placed third with 101. The Cardinals have won the CCIW's indoor and outdoor championships in the same year for the fifth time and the first since 2014.
Dianne Barajas picked up North Central's first individual title on Friday, winning the 3,000-meter steeplechase by nearly 10 seconds in a time of 11 minutes, 32.87 seconds.
Kelsey McLaurin added an individual title in the triple jump on Saturday, surpassing her own school record in the event by more than six inches to win with a distance of 38'10.50". McLaurin also won the triple jump at the CCIW Indoor Championships in February and ranks in the top 10 nationally among NCAA Division III competitors this season.

Kathy Myrda in the pole vault (11'7.75"),
Daniele Stubner in the javelin throw (117'2"),
Hailey Dammeier in the heptathlon (4,195),
Milia Harris in the 100-meter hurdles (14.51),
Katie Bonney in the 400-meter dash (58.83) and
Ashley Buado in the 800-meter run (2:16.41). Dammeier, Harris and Buado established personal bests, while Bonney set a new personal record of 57.74 in Friday's preliminary heats.
Alexandra Draves placed third in the hammer throw (149'1"), as did Lizzy Mcadd in the 400-meter dash (58.88),
Jenna Yakesh in the 1,500-meter run (4:50.84), the 4-by-100-meter relay team of McLaurin, Harris,
Stephanie Garcia and
Johana Allen (49.85) and the 4-by-400-meter relay quartet of McLaurin, Buado, McCadd and
Allison Grady (4:00.28).
North Central's coaching staff was presented with the CCIW Coaching Staff of the Year award at the conclusion of the meet.
North Central hosts the Dr. Keeler Invitational on Thursday and Friday at Jay and Dot Buikema Track.
