Elmhurst College Earlybird Invitational Results
ELMHURST, Ill. (Aug. 30, 2019) – Impressing in their 2019 debut, the North Central College men's cross country team swept the top-11 places at the Elmhurst College Earlybird Invitational to open their season with a dominant first-place performance over the 12-team field at Eldridge Park on Friday.
The Cardinals' perfect score of 15 points won the meet, while North Central's freshman squad excelled in their first competition, taking second-place with 63 points. Hosts Elmhurst College secured third-place with 150 points.
Matt Osmulski was the first Cardinal across the line, traversing the 6,000-meter course in 18 minutes and 54.1 seconds, with
Gabe Pommier close behind in second (19:07), followed by
Alec Beutel (19:15.2), Zachary Chapman (19:16.4) and
Thomas Rohr (19:21.1).
Brendon Sebastian took sixth, while freshman
Kyle Bell thrived in his first collegiate meet to finish seventh (19:53).
Rounding out the Cardinals' top-ten,
Matt Boelke finished eighth (19:27.3),
Bjorn Shroda in ninth (19.31.9) and
Nick Licari in tenth (19:32.1). Meanwhile Freshmen
Connor Riss (19:53.3) and
Julian Higueros (19:53.5) both cracked the top-15, finishing 13th and 14th, respectively.
North Central next travels to Kenosha, Wisconsin for the Vic Godfrey Open on Sept. 6, hosted by University of Wisconsin-Parkside. Race time at Dannehl National Cross Country Course is set for 5 p.m.
