SPOKANE, WASH. (Aug. 30, 2019) - Scoring all three goals in the first half of the contest, the North Central College women's soccer team pushed their way to a season-opening victory on Friday against Whitman College, taking the game by a 3-0 final.
A trio of underclassmen provided the scoring for the Cardinals, with sophomore
Aly Crum taking a pass from fellow sophomore
Bri McAloon to start the scoring in the 22nd minute of the contest. Freshman
Kaitlyn Cannon scored on an assist from
Kily Egan 11 minutes later to push the Cardinal's lead to 2-0.
Not wasting any time, the Cardinals added another goal five minutes later, when Egan headed a cross to
Ava Walls, with the freshman burying the pass in the back of the net to push the game well out of reach at 3-0.Â
The second half saw little action, as neither team scored. The Cardinals out-shot the Blues (0-1) by a 19-5 margin, with seven of them on-goal to the Blues' five.
Madison Lockard received her first win of the season while saving three shots sent her way.
The Cardinals continue their stay in Spokane, Washington, taking on the host Whitworth University at 12 pm Pacific Time (2 pm CT) on Saturday. Click
