NAPERVILLE, Ill. (Sept. 10, 2019) - Taking on a tough 19th-ranked Loras College team on Tuesday night, the North Central College women's soccer team could not find their rhythm, falling 2-0 to the Duhawks.
The Cardinals looked to be up for the challenge in the first half, battling the Duhawks (5-0-0) until the 45th and final minute of the period, when Abby Erikson got a nifty give-and-go pass from Olivia Lansing and put it past North Central's
Madison Lockard to put Loras up 1-0 at halftime.
The Cardinals tried repeatedly to find chances coming out of halftime but wound up with only two shots on goal. Loras controlled the ball for most of the second half and found themselves with another goal in the 69th minute as Ryleigh O'Brien took a mis-hit pass and fired it past Lockard to put the Duhawks up 2-0 and stomping any comeback effort from the Cardinals.Â
Loras out-shot the Cardinals by an 18-9 margin in the game, with five on-goal compared to North Central's two. Lockard saved three shots in the loss, seeing her record drop to 3-1-1.
The Cardinals (3-1-1) look to bounce back on Friday, going on the road to face the University of Dubuque at 7 pm.
