DUBUQUE, Iowa (Sept. 13, 2019) - After a slow first half for both squads, the North Central College women's soccer team out-scored University of Dubuque 2-1 in the final 45 minutes on their way to their fourth victory of the season.
Dubuque (4-1-0) slightly outplayed the Cardinals in the first half of the contest but North Central goalie
Madison Lockard saved all four shots on goal with Victoria Roethler of Dubuque saving the one shot on goal shot by the Cardinals offense.
The second half saw 10 minutes go by until the first goal of the game was scored, with Dubuque's Jordan Cadena breaking the scoreless deadlock in the 59th minute. The Cardinals tied the game shortly thereafter in the 67th minute, when
Allyson Viederis scored her second of the season on an assist from
Aly Crum. Then with the game winding down, the Cardinals pushed ahead of the Spartans with
Kily Egan scoring on a pass from
Kaitlyn Cannon to put the Cardinals up for good.
Lockard kept up her good play for the Cardinals this season, saving eight shots sent her way and improving to 4-1-1 on the year.
